I've condensed the rules into a three-page summary and formatted them into a PDF. A Sea Deep, Cursed and Rotting. I know that, unless you've studied the posts here thoroughly, the summary might not be completely coherent, but I'd appreciate anyone who looks at the summary and comments on any obvious omissions or problems.
Now I'm behind, though. I will need to write quite a bit to get the draft done by Monday.

John, looks wonderful (and super concise.) two quick points to consider: the Optional info sometimes makes me think that the Right Column isn't all Optional (because it's so abbreviated.) I would maybe gray-down those few Optional sections to 70% or so in order to offset them. The other thing was that the GM instructions might be a bit too short. A little more info about boxing that in would go a long way towards any play test.
ReplyDeletebeautifully done though.
congrats, eric
I'm really looking forward to seeing the whole game. Are you planning on trying for the Four-Page prize, or is this more of an outline?
ReplyDeleteI skimmed over it in under a minute. I've read a lot of your setting posts, and so the only problem I had in getting a feel for the game was in the scale for the conflict mechanics. Does a single conflict encompass a sword strike or a while fight? Other than that, it's looking really good.
@Eric: the right column is just a column, so maybe greying out optional items is a good idea. I'll have to think how to expand GM instructions.
ReplyDelete@Noah: I hadn't thought about trying for the four-page badge. I'm tempted, but the dice map needs to take up a page, so that's probably out of the question. My intention was for this to be an outline that would become the sidebar text; the main text would be expanded discussion of sidebar topics.
The 2d6 action effects rolls encompass individual actions; conflict resolution is handled by damage vs. Luck.
Thanks to both of you for the comments!
